Regional History Collection

20170303 history 600.1.view1 trunk

The Regional History Department focuses on preserving and sharing the human stories of all Inland Northwest people, their values and lifestyles, their interactions with each other, and their relationships to the land and its resources – within the context of the American West, the nation and the world.

The themes and strengths of the collection reflect different eras of our community over the last 200 years, from the early settlement years of boomtown Spokane Falls, to the rich agricultural legacy of Eastern Washington, to the strength of Japanese American’s in the wake of Executive Order 9066. The historic Campbell House, the museum’s largest artifact, plays host to a focused collection of materials that speaks to both the experience of a newly wealthy family at the turn of the 20th century as well as the experience of new immigrants to the United States in the early 1900s. It is open year-round.
